How and where did you meet?
We met in our last semester during senior year of undergrad at the University of Scranton. Brandon’s twin brother was dating my best friend at the time…they were the best man and (one of my) maids of honor at our wedding and are now also engaged and will be married in April!
What were your first impressions of each other?
I was definitely interested in Brandon first – I thought he was very fun to be around, nice, outgoing, and funny. Brandon thought I was also fun to be around and always kept the party going when hanging out with friends.
Tell us about the proposal?
When I graduated from PT school, I moved to Virginia to be with Brandon while he finished medical school. In our time spent in Virginia, we found a winery that we loved and spent a lot of weekends there with each other, friends, and family. Brandon proposed to me on August 8, 2020 at our favorite winery. I was totally surprised and quite literally speechless. And if that wasn’t enough Brandon had a second surprise in mind when both of our parents showed up at the winery shortly after saying “yes” and spent the weekend with us to celebrate!
Why did you choose Stroudsmoor for your wedding day?
We went to see two other potential venues before seeing the Stroudsmoor. We saw Ridgecrest first and as soon as we saw the view from the ceremony space, none of those other venues stood a chance. We really liked Ridgecrest, but as soon as we walked into Terraview, we both just knew this was our venue. I found myself almost as speechless as I was when Brandon proposed. Immediately I could picture it all and we were both overcome with this feeling that it had to be the place we got married.
What was the one wedding detail you loved the most?
I don’t know how to pick just one! Our whole experience was really wonderful. Everyone was so helpful, made the planning process super easy, and took care of any and everything we could have needed on our wedding day! I will say I was super thrilled with the floral and décor. I’m not one who knows much of anything about flowers & floral details, but my bouquet was absolutely gorgeous and the reception space was perfect. They really knocked it out of the park!
What was the favorite menu detail about your wedding menu?
We decided to have soup instead of salad since we had a winter wedding, and we thought that was a really nice touch that a lot of guests commented on! The hors d’oeuvres were also absolutely delicious!
Share a favorite moment from your wedding day at Stroudsmoor.
From the very first time we toured Terraview, we saw the ceremony space with the waterfalls and beautiful view of the mountains…ever since then I just pictured getting married outside in that space. I could picture the groomsmen coming out of the door from the conservatory space, the bridesmaids coming out of the door to the bridal suite, and walking down the aisle to Brandon at the end. I knew having a winter wedding meant our chances of having an outdoor ceremony could be slim, and those chances stayed slim literally until a few hours before the ceremony actually happened. But I’m so thrilled we were able to pull it off, and equally thrilled Linda helped us in making that decision to risk it to be outside!
Share an anniversary hope – on our first anniversary we will...
On our first anniversary we hope to be as happy as we were on our wedding day! We’d love to do something to celebrate – plan a short trip or getaway to be with each other and reminisce on all the wonderful memories we made not only on our wedding day but over our first year as husband and wife!
