Kathlyn & Mark's Real-Life Fairytale Wedding

Once upon a time, in true fairy tale fashion, Kathlyn and Mark embraced their happily ever after with a magical wedding day at Stroudsmoor. The day brought unexpected rain, but rather than dampening the celebration, it added a touch of romance reminiscent of a movie scene. From enchanted décor to heartfelt moments, their wedding was a dream come true despite the weather’s twist.

Now, Kathlyn and Mark are sharing their own take on their fairy tale love story. Read on to discover the magic behind their special day!

Tell us how and when you met each other. What was your first impression of one another, and at what moment did you know you’d be together forever?

My best friend Kelly met her husband (Matt) on bumble. I have been best friends with Kelly since 5th [grade], and Matt has been best friends with Mark for about 7 years now. So, when Matt and Kelly started dating all [us] friends were always out doing things together. We all went on vacation when I was dating someone else at the time. Fast forward to the pandemic, Kelly and Matt hosted a Halloween party, I was single, Mark was single. And we just hit it off, we were basically together ever since. We felt after our first official date that this was something neither one of us felt before.

Tell us about the proposal, share some pics, and show us your ring!

So Kelly being my best friend a had glimpse when it was going to happen. So I got my hair done and nails all ready for Christmas Eve (that’s when we both thought it was going to happen). I get home from the hair salon and put a shower cap on so I don’t mess up my hair and put pajamas on to get all ready for the next day. Until my family said let’s go look at Christmas lights, in my mind it was driving around in the car listening to Christmas music so I didn’t need to get out of my shower cap or pajamas. After some convincing I took off my shower cap but left my pajamas on. Turns out we were going to Tinsel Town to walk around and look at lights. Needless to say I was in my pajamas and completely shocked.

What led you to Stroudsmoor Country Inn? What inspired you to celebrate your wedding with us?

I used to work for Rockin Ramaley and enjoyed doing weddings there. So this was my first choice. I love the venues how beautiful they are. I also enjoyed how easy everything was from booking, catering, etc. This was the only venue we looked at and booked the same day. Not to mention the bridal suite was like a fairytale.

What is the one menu item that sticks out above all else from your wedding celebration? What about your favorite décor detail?

Everyone is/has been talking about the appetizers, and the cake. I would have to agree there was like 50 different appetizers going around and each one was amazing. The cake was moist and different. We did peaches and cream. I loved how my cake was on a carriage; like, come on, that fit the theme perfectly.

What made your Wedding Journey with us most memorable?

Honestly everything, Linda and her team absolutely made my fairytale vision come to life. I truly felt like a princess that day, even in the rain.

What is one hope you have in celebrating your first anniversary?

I hope to be at the Stroudsmoor for our first wedding anniversary. Just to reminisce and reflect on the first year together.
