Tell us how and when you met each other. What was your first impression of one another, and at what moment did you know you’d be together forever?
We met through an online dating app called Plenty of Fish. Elizabeth was in Manassas, VA for an internship and Brittney lived in Virginia Beach, VA back in 2017. After a few months of talking, we decided to meet in person when Brittney came up to Manassas.
Elizabeth’s first impression of Brittney was that she was shorter than expected! Her smile was bright and it felt like we had known each other forever. Elizabeth knew they would be together forever after the first weekend when she was heartbroken they had to say goodbye. Brittney’s first impression of Elizabeth was that she was smart and funny. The moment for Brittney was when Elizabeth dropped everything to be there for Brittney when her dog Max passed away.
Tell us about the proposal, share some pics, and show us your ring!
Brittney proposed to Elizabeth on a family vacation to Germany in 2023. She got down on one knee in front of the fountain at Linderhof Palace. The timing was perfect!
Unfortunately, Elizabeth had Covid at the time and was a bit out of it so she didn’t question when Brittney’s mom was acting funny and pushing for her to stand in front of the fountain. Brittney didn’t say much which was very out of character for her as she usually has a way with words. Elizabeth said, “Really?” and after a few short moments Brittney asked if she would marry her.
It was an amazing moment and made the rest of our vacation so much more special.
What led you to Stroudsmoor Country Inn? What inspired you to celebrate your wedding with us?
Elizabeth found Stroudsmoor Country Inn listed on the Knot and decided to reach out for a tour and more information. As soon as we pulled up, we loved the property. We did get a little nervous that we wouldn’t be able to afford it though. After our tour with Linda and learning everything that Stroudsmoor had to offer, there was no doubt in our minds that this was where we wanted to celebrate our wedding. Having no family local, made the decision even easier as Linda helped us every step of the way and we were able to enjoy the process of wedding planning without too much stress.
What is the one menu item that sticks out above all else from your wedding celebration? What about your favorite décor detail?
Everything on the dessert table! Best decision we made was to add that in addition to the cake. As far as décor, Elizabeth loved all the lanterns used in the center pieces, down the aisle, and around the sweetheart table. Brittney loved all the vines wrapped around the beams.
What made your Wedding Journey with us most memorable?
The tasting event and the trips to visit with Linda in person. We would always get so excited to make the drive to Stroudsmoor knowing that with each trip our day was coming closer and closer as more plans were decided upon. The tasting event was amazing and really helped us see what extras we wanted added to make our day special. It was also a lot of fun!
What is one hope you have in celebrating your first anniversary?
We hope we can celebrate our anniversary at Stroudsmoor and eat some of the wonderful food, as we didn’t get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked on our wedding day!
