Kyle and I met in medical school, at Albany medical center. We got to know each other during rotations 3rd year, but didn’t start dating until a year later. We were assigned to do a teaching project together, and found ourselves taking it very seriously and spending a lot of extra time together. After it was over, he asked me out to celebrate, and we’ve been dating since.
My first impression of Kyle was that he was laid back and care free, the exact opposite of me. Even before we started dating, he had the ability to calm me down when I was stressed, and always make me laugh. This was never more apparent than when he met my friends for the first time. They took to him immediately, and even my family knew this was different.
He proposed during one of our vacations after dating for 2 and a half years. We were in Charleston, South Carolina. He planned an evening sailboat cruise, and proposed to me on a beautiful spring day, just as the sun was setting. I remember being completely surprised, despite the fact that I made it very clear I couldn’t wait to be engaged (haha). I never knew he had been ring shopping, already asked my parents permission, and had been carrying around the ring all week, waiting for the perfect moment.
Stroudsmoor was only the second venue we visited – but we didn’t leave that day without signing a contract. Whether it was their elegant ballrooms overlooking the natural beauty of the Poconos, or their multiple picturesque outdoor wedding venues, I knew I had found my dream wedding location. As anyone who has planned a wedding may know, the process can be time consuming, labor intensive, and stressful. We felt that the team at Stroudsmoor, and Linda (the Wedding Warrior), would be dedicated to making our wedding weekend perfect, and we were proven correct.
On the day of our wedding, the venue was even more beautiful than we remembered. If we had to choose one thing that we remembered most, it wasn’t the perfect weather, the gorgeous decor, or the delicious food. It was the overwhelming feeling of love.

As I walked down the aisle, looking at the man I was about to marry, surrounded by our friends and family- I realized this moment was perfect. I will never forget that feeling.
It’s moments like that when you realize just how lucky, blessed, and fortunate you really are. We were surrounded by so much love, support, and positive energy. Kyle and I never danced so freely, laughed so hard, or celebrated as much as we did that night. It was everything we could have dreamed of and more.
